Fellow Cubs fan here, but I am not a fan of Ross as manager.
Tinkers too much, just like Madden did.
Not a fan of shifts, and he does this way too much.
Not a fan of short leashes on pitchers and he does this way too much.

There goes that stupid shift again.
Due to the shift, the Cubs gave up 1 maybe 2 runs in a tight, 1 run game.
The Cubs announcers, especially that Schiambi guy, just make constant excuses for the players.
I am a traditionalist. I like fundamental ball. Enough of these guys hitting 1----low 2 something.
Teams try to load the bases and hit the long ball.

Don't know if you watched the game last night at Cincy, but I couldn't believe what Ross said during his interview (during the game w/ the announcers). He absolutely contradicted himself.
Says he doesn't like pulling starters early. Doesn't like riding his bullpen. Doesn't like loading em up and hitting a homer. I was like, "WHAT?" That is EXACTLY what YOUR team does. I can see him trying to get out in front of this before it blows up. Again...like Ross, just not as a skipper.
It is his team. If he doesn't like the approach of hitters, fix it. Simple. Fire the hitting coach or give different signs. Don't like the pitching situation? Simple. Fix it. Fire Tommy "Top Secret Talk From Behind My Hand At ALL Times" Hottovy or just let your starting pitchers work.
I don't give a crap about all this new "data" and "approach". Hit the ball. All I care about is results. Looks at the stats here. They are a joke.
