DAC POWER RANKINGS AND PREDICTIONS WEEK 9

Post by DACfanatic »

My Week 9 DAC POWER RANKINGS AND PREDICTIONS!

Power rankings
1. crown point 8-0
2. Merrillville 7-1
3. Chesterton 5-3
4. Valparaiso 5-3
5. Lake central 4-4
6. Portage 3-5
7. Michigan city 3-5
8. Laporte 0-8

Week 9 schedule and predictions

Crown point @ Michigan city:

Last meeting: 38-0 crown point

These two teams are at opposite ends of the spectrum this year. Crown point has dominated everyone that has stepped on the field with them! Starters haven’t even played a 4 qtr game yet!! Michigan city on the other hand has only got 3 wins on the year. The city defense is loaded with talent but the offense isn’t doing its part in any games this year. Michigan city has a top 3 defense in the conference but it won’t matter in this one with an offense that barely gets 130 yards a game..

Crown point wins 42-0

Laporte @ portage:

Last meeting: Laporte 12-0

Two teams at the bottom of the conference. Portage is not the same team that everyone can overlook this year. They are on a path to becoming relevant again in class 6A. They come off a loss to Valpo Friday night. There option offense creates opportunities at any time for this team!! The defense is an average unit. Laporte on the other hand can’t get anything going at all. So much turnover at Laporte for a few years that this program has suffered. Will they get a win before the end of season? They have to do it this week…

Sorry Laporte but you become winless this season!

Portage 28-7

Valpo @ lake central:

Last meeting: Valpo 47-7

This will be a great game. Valpo is not the dominate team like they have been the last 5 years. They have a very vulnerable defense and an offense that is hit and miss depending on the day. Valpo enters off a much needed win over portage After back to back 30+ point losses to crown point and merrillville. Lake central enters on a 3 game losing streak but has shown the ability to move the ball! There QB is like lighting when he runs! This game will come down to who has the better offense as both defenses are capable of bottling the run.
I’ll side with history on this one.

Valpo 28-17

Game of week:

Merrillville @ Chesterton:

Last meeting: 35-7

Chesterton enters this game off a blowout loss to crown point. Chesterton has proved they can run the ball this year but the passing game is not as consistent. This is a scary team when it all clicks but can they click at the right time? Spoiler: Chesterton is my favorite in there sectional this year!!!
Merrillville on the other hand is clicking at the right time as they have now put running clocks on 3 straight opponents the offense is finally healthy after having players out since week 2. This is the pirate team we saw all summer that was getting praise around the state! No one has bottled up the merrillville run yet (over 250 a game) and now the passing game is finally getting going!! Merrillville has had little problem stopping running backs on the year. Might have the best rush defense in 5A! Chesterton is at home but it’s the wrong time to run into this pirate team.

Merrillville wins 35-10

DAC Power Rankings
1. Crown Point 8-0 (6-0)
2. Merrillville 7-1 (5-1)
3. Valpo 5-3 (4-2)
4. Michigan City 3-5 (3-3)
5. Chesterton 5-3 (3-3)
6. Portage 3-5 (1-5)
7. Lake Central 3-5 (2-4)
8. LaPorte 0-8 (0-6)

DAC Week 9 Predictions
Crown Point 45 Michigan City 7
Merrillville 35 Chesterton 10
Valparaiso 31 Lake Central 17
Portage 28 LaPorte 10

Last Week Predictions
Crown Point 38 Chesterton 3 - Pretty close to spot on here. Chesterton closes out the regular season with the Pirates, lets see how they handle their 5A counterpart. Crown Point continues to dominate.
Merrillville 31 Lake Central 7 - Margin of victory was a bit larger than I predicted. Lake Central takes on Valpo at home while Merrillville takes on the Trojans of Chesterton.
Valparaiso 21 Portage 17 - I knew this would be the game of the week just did not see this many points coming in the game. Valpo hangs on for another W in Jimbo's DAC win column. Portage is getting better game by game. Valpo finds ways to win.
Michigan City 35 LaPorte 7 - I thought LaPorte would get at least one score. Best of luck to City vs CP and LaPorte vs Portage.

Jimbo's DAC Record: 34-6
