Should Portage fans have any hope that French can turn it around or is the program beyond life support?
He won’t turn it around they will stay a 3-4 win team max. Not enough talent in portage. It goes elsewhere

At the moment, they're clinging to life via the ventilator... But not for the reasons Mr. DAC stated. I have said (and will CONTINUE to say) that the problems run deeper than the talent they have even with the couple of exits per year (like nearly all public schools in NWI) or who the football coach is there. If they haven't figured out yet that its not the coaches (not every coach from Buzz to French "can't coach"), then they may be headed for beyond life support sooner than later. But again, not for a lack of coaching or talent.

The talent loss will stop… I have a good feeling.

Kinda sorta OT but I think the balance sheet will not take that big of a hit once the smoke clears. “Build it and they will come.”

Can French build it? From a distance he seems like a job hopper. He handled his exit at Calumet like a complete jag off and winning a Sectional at City by beating 2 teams with a combined 6 wins between them doesn't really move the needle for me. I'm not saying he won't have success at Portage, but he hasn't proven he can build and maintain a program up to this point.

Sounds like you have an axe to grind with French. Why don’t you enlighten us about, “the jagoff move”. Since we are being open and honest here.

No axe to grind. I just want Portage to return to being competitive in football and I'm skeptical he's the guy who can lead them in that direction. I''m not saying he can't, just taking a wait and see approach.

No honesty needed. It's was no secret he wasn't honest with Calumet when it came to leaving for City.

Glad we can discuss this like adults and not resort to name calling. I have no idea what promises were made. The S&C position that was engineered post French had a very handsome salary from what I was told. Offer that along with the HFBC stipend and maybe French stays. Maybe that was offered only French and the School Board knows for sure. By the time Salary was hired some of those kids that three different Head Coaches. Can’t build trust with that many changes. This trust not only with the athletes, but the community and the parents as well.
