I have Merrillville beating Lafayette Jeff in semi state and making it to finals. They match up very well vs Jeff. Jeff is a very good football team and I watched them early vs Chatard. Their defense is suspect and you can’t be vs Merrillville offense.
I would not dismiss Concord or FW North Side, they are both capable to challenge the Pirates.

FW north side isn’t a threat to anyone left except maybe Laporte. They lack the killer instinct in my opinion.
Concord on the other hand.. I don’t disagree. There offense is good. There defense at times can be questionable like most teams in high school. But to they have the speed to counteract the athleticism of the pirates. I don’t think defensively thy can contain the pirates. Lafayette Jefferson is who concord will have to get by first and I don’t see concord beating that offense. But we will see.
Plus I’ll say this again. Pirates have a showdown next week with more than likely Michigan city and they aren’t a pushover they can compete if in the right mental head space

I don’t know anything about FW north. But my nephew plays for concord he said there defense has issues with speed. Thinks they can beat anyone but there defense doesn’t do well against speed so sounds like to me Lafayette and Merrillville will be a semistate as long as they both don’t lay an egg in the regionals
