This week will definitely shed some light on things. By end of next week we should have a much clearer picture of reality.

My thoughts based on week 1 results:

1. Crown Point: No surprises here. The series with Lowell should be at the very least postponed for a while. Pike isn't very good. Zionsville carved them up in the running game. I'll take Crown Point by 21.

2. Merrillville: Again, no surprises. They should roll Andrean. Merrillville has been beaten badly in the past 3 (Warsaw, Snider, Westfield) non Region games they've played. I don't see anything changing tomorrow against Loyola. The Ramblers will likely start out slow but be in full control in the 2nd half. I'll take Loyola by 20.

3. Valpo: They really didn't do antyhing against Penn to indicate they're a Top 10 5A team. I don't think Brother Rice is on Loyola's level, but the Crusaders are likely on a level above Valpo. I'll take Brother Rice by 13.

4. Michigan City: Not sure what to think about the Wolves. Based on the past few years a 31-0 W over Hanover Central is impressive. I'll take Lafayette Jeff by 14

5. Lake Central: I haven't seen the Blue Indians yet. I'll give them the edge at home by 3.

6. Chesterton: Giving the Trojans the benefit of the doubt that Hobart is really good and Chesterton will once again flirt with a .500 record. The Trojan offense gets a break from the Brickie D and knock off Morton by 17.

7. LaPorte: McKim gets W #1 at Lowell as RDP takes down LaPorte by 14.

8. Portage: It's going to be a very long season for the red Indians. The Brickie D could post a shutout. I'll take Hobart by 24.

Here is the thing on Chesterton. They can’t score. Offense is anemic. They literally have no one at any skill position. QB is young and will eventually be good but will struggle this year. I’ll grant you that their defense is solid. They are going to have to pitch shutouts or close to shutouts. Offense will average 10-17 points a game this season maybe.

Agree with all. But just a eye opener on the brother rice vs Loyola history

Last 10 meetings (not any order)

Loyola @ rice 28-0
Loyola @ rice 48-38
Rice @ Loyola 0-28
Loyola @ rice 3-35
Rice @ Loyola 35-27
Loyola @ rice 28-10
Rice @ Loyola 31-35

Looks to me Loyola and rice are close to even the last few years

Last 3 years:
Loyola @ rice : 46-43
Rice @ loyola : 14-34 (rice without starting QB)
Loyola @ rice : 28-21

Valpo and Merrillville both might get wacked but I wouldn’t be suprised if one of the games is tight all the way through.

Sounds like ugly football. Effective. But ugly. No wonder I don't stream very many of their games.

Interesting. I think it'll be Merrillville who gets whacked. I have a feeling Valpo and Brother Rice will be a low scoring clock eating affair. I hope I"m wrong . I would love for Merrillville to at least make he game competitive.

I think valpo has to many offense issues. I got brother rice rolling them.

Merrillville will catch Loyola early with a TD or 2. But I still got pirates in the game in 3rd

I think that would be a respectful showing. Will it be streamed? Valpo looked like a team that can't play the power running game this year and they're not ready to pass that much.

Merrillville doesn’t allow video streaming. But I think it stays tight wouldn’t be surprised ti see Merrillville lead after 1
