1. Crown Point: Taking the power running game + Buzea & Staff over the Pirates by 3 points

2. Merrillville: Not sure what to think about the Loyola game since it wasn’t streamed. The score itself is impressive. The Pirates are looking like a trendy pick for Friday night.

3. Valpo: The fact this Valpo team is #3 doesn’t speak highly of the Duneland. I trust Marshall can right the ship if the players respond.

4. The motley crew of Michigan City, Chesterton, and Lake Central: The on any given Friday night crew.

7. LaPorte: At least they have a W.

8. Portage: You reap what you sow.

All I will say about the pirate Loyola game is.

Merrillville had 3 different drives that resulted in punts where a WR dropped a pass down field with no one around them. That would have resulted in at minimum 2 TDs. Merrillville could of had a 14-21 point lead by end of 3rd…

Left some points on the field.

The power run game of CP will be interesting. Size of Loyola line is a little bigger than crown points. So far we have had issues with a shifty speedy type back but seem to control the slower bruisers. Looking forward to see how buzea schemes the run game with 8-9 guys coming out you on 90% of plays. Or if Merrillville backs off the blitz heavy stuff and plays more methodical

I am not impressed at all with Merrillville wr group. This usually is a highly productive position group for Merrillville. They were not impressive at all vs Andrean and even worse gs Loyola. They need to get it corrected or teams like CP will load the box and shutdown running game. I would consider leaving 2 at tailback and moving Jordan to wr on some possessions.

The WR group is the same as last 2 years. But we are missing our best one here sat out first two weeks in bogard not sure if he is suiting up this week or not. 🤷‍♂️ but the WR group to me is just fine. And Loyola just shit down the run held it to like 50 yards. And the WRs and QB went for north of 200 I believe. Could have been worst. Some dropped passes. Otherwise we talking something else. Again as it’s been stated by many on paper Merrillville should run away with this game. But we all know how it will turn out. 🙄 it’s either Merrillville by 14+ or crown point by 14+

What’s everyone’s take on the CP offense? I don’t think it’s good. But others say it’s great and others say it sucks
What is your take? Watching tonight, my take is that they do whatever it is that they need to do.

A well rounded team with depth in all positions will take care of business. When you have the numbers at the 6A level CP does, you have many weapons.
Come on down to El Monte Slim's (Wheeler's best kept secret)

It’s basic. It does the job but if they continue to run that exact offense all year it will get shut down come sectionals. They have no variety at all. I mean still to me they only have Gibbs. Plays with him not on field averaged about 1 yard.

Him on the field 10+

Depth yes. I just think the offense is so basic they will eventually run into trouble. There is no doubt that Merrillville didn’t show up till late in game like last week. But hey it happens. Move on to next week. Between the two Merrillville still has the better shot to make it to state. Plus we still missing our best DB that’s in protocol and my opinion best WR that will be out a few more weeks
