Rising tuition, school getting older, changing interest in Catholic education. It's not all great in terms of enrollment. You make a valid point. But you are dead wrong about them not being a football program that is built from the ground up. They care and it shows.

It's easy when you have the studs. McCormick and St. Germain looked like coaching geniuses too until they left andrean and found out how hard it is to build a program from the ground up with kids that live in the school district. Mason is finding that out now. Why couldn't they get to state after andrean? They didn't have studs dropping in their laps every year from all over the area. Have to play with the kids you got.. Skinner would be no different if he left. His schemes are basic and without the athletes he relies on they would get torched.

You sure are bitter towards Andrean. How did they hurt you?

CB4, you're just hating. Denying that Andrean has tradition or a solid program from something outside of kids transferring to play there. Kids go there for lots of reasons. Kids go there for genuine academic reasons, or because of family / friends. They're not a bunch of defectors that abandon their best friends to feel superior. Their best friends go there. Their family went there. Or they see something genuine in the place that they like. There's history. It's a special place. It's ok if you want to overlook all of that and focus on your negative hypothesis. We still love you. :)
Andrean is a joke. Couldnt win at 4a or 3a so let's drop down again. Don't feed me enrollment. Its not the kids they have, its the kids they don't have. Public schools have to develop the kids they have. If that means a few down years, so be it. Private schools just go hand pluck kids with a "do you want to win a championship?" Andrean should be playing in 4a plain and simple. And this year they would have a shot to make a run in 4a. 2a.... its ridiculous. Public schools should not have to recruit their OWN players. Someone said Hobart recruited this class hard.. still lost flesher to catholicism. The kids that stayed at Hobart were because they had a brotherhood that was built by years of being kids together. That brotherhood kept the parents together.. Fleshers..I guess not. Maybe a coach didn't play him in the right spot, or maybe he wasn't getting playing time, so they bailed. What does that teach anyone? Job not going good.. im out. Winning a title for the community you grew up in IS and will always be much more rewarding than building a all star team on the fallacy of religion and academics...period

funny how this is went from talking about Region Contenders to CB4 and beastmode crying about private schools. It's a mute point, catholic schools exist and some parents choose to send them their kids to them instead of the local public school. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT CHOICE!

From a football perspective, those schools have more talented players because they are not restricted by a geographical area. At the end of the day, you have to be able to scheme around them and beat them. The state has the success factor for a reason if a team is winning to much so they then go a higher division.

People need to stop being mad at the schools and be mad at the state because they are the ones who makes the rules on what division everyone is in.

Last point, Hobart is going to beat Lowell and hopefully they can make it to state along with Valpo, Andrean and Merrillville. Hope the region can bring back multiple state titles because it's been way too long since the area has had one with all the talent at the different schools

Mason, McCormack and St. Germain have all done objectively better than their predecessor / follower. They each turned their program from a sub .400 to a .600 winning program with multiple title game appearances. I would say that they all, and esp. Mason, have had plenty of studs and used their coaching skills to turn the programs around.

MICHIGAN CITY Win % W L Farthest Appearance
Coach: Phil Mason 63.83% 30 17 2x Semi, Sectional Final
Coach: Michael Karpinski 22.45% 11 38

HOBART W L
Coach: Ryan Turley 53.33% 40 35 Regional
Coach: Wally McCormack 60.22% 56 37 5x Sectional Final
Coach: Charlie Boston 36.36% 16 28 Sectional Final

LAKE CENTRAL W L
Coach: Tony Bartolomeo 27.50% 11 29
2015 (Bart 1-2 + Saint 3-4) 50.00% 5 5
Coach: Brett St. Germain 66.67% 36 18 Sectional Final, Regional
Coach: Bill Melby 33.96% 18 35 Sectional Final

Andrean should be a 3A school. How Chatard is still in 3A is another story..

If my kids came home with bunch of 60 percents on their report cards I would be disappointed!

McCormick 93% at andrean and a state runner-up. A 33% drop and not even close to state after.

St. Germain 81% at andrean state champs. A 14% drop and even close to state after.

Mason 77% at andrean state champs. 13% drop and close but no cigar for state after.

Without poaching other communities they can't or couldn't get it done. Sorry it hurts so bad for you guys to realize it. Come on even Jeff Karras took them to state

It doesn't hurt. I appreciate your thorough and persistent arguments. Andrean does get some good players. "Poaching" is a harsh word when families make a decision to send their kids there. Just like they can choose where to live. Let's start shaming people for living in Valpo too while we are at it! They've had football success. Man, all those traitors that moved from CP to Valpo and raised their kids there instead. Stole 3 sectional titles from the Dogs..
