Very Questionable Call in LC / MC Finish
Very Questionable Call in LC / MC Finish

You can start watching the above link around 3:28:00 mark.
Michigan City ball down 3 with 5 seconds left (5.1 to be exact). From the 18 yard line, City QB heaves it over the middle, catch made at the 2, tackled there short of the goal line, clock runs out. LC celebrates the big win, players on the field and everything. But then the refs talk about it and say City called a timeout with 1 second left. So one more play was run from the 1 and City punches it in for the win.
Congrats to City on a win but c'mon there is NO WAY that play could have only taken less than 5 seconds. From the 19, QB drops back, heaves it 25 or so yards, WR goes up to catch it, hauls it in, takes a few steps, tackled to the ground, and THEN the coach calls timeout... all in under 5 seconds? No chance and the video proves the game was over.
LC had this win stolen from them. You've gotta feel bad for the players on what could have been a program changing win.

Re: Very Questionable Call in LC / MC Finish
Wow pretty amazing ending. Sounds like a great game
Re: Very Questionable Call in LC / MC Finish
Definitely robbed there. If the Michigan City receiver had not tried to keep the play going and gotten down immediately, maybe the play is over before the game ends. With him fighting for the goal line, there is no way that the play ended before the clock hit zero. Also should be noted that there wasn't any time on the clock at the end of the play.
Re: Very Questionable Call in LC / MC Finish
I wish there was another view, a wider one that allows you to see French calling the time out. Definitely put a second back on the clock.

Re: Very Questionable Call in LC / MC Finish
Doesn't matter if French is calling a time out if the play is still going on. You can see the game clock at 0 before the play is over. Totally blown call and an absurd decision to grant them a to with a second to go.
Re: Very Questionable Call in LC / MC Finish
Remember, the clock displayed on the Region Sports feed is not official, so just because the clock hit zero there, doesn’t mean the actual game clock was at zero.
Re: Very Questionable Call in LC / MC Finish
The game clock was at 0 as well...the only way giving a to was legit at 1 sec is if a ref thought he was down when his knee lowered and blew a whistle ending the play prematurely as he fought for the endzone.. otherwise this was simply a blown call by the refs and lake central was screwed...
Re: Very Questionable Call in LC / MC Finish
True, but we do know that there was 5.1 seconds on the game clock when it started and watching the Region Sports feed, it looks like the Region Sports clock didn't even start immediately.
