CP owns a 33 pt win over another semi-state team, Merrillville.

Cp only won that game by that much do to merrillville missing 5 starters to start game… QB was hurt but played (ankle)
Rb (ankle)

And then during game lost DT (broke arm) DB (broken hand)

We replay that game is a 3-7 point game
Name the 5 starters that didn’t start the game. Pretty sure that’s not the case. But they did get beat up during the game.
Javion Gillis

Jordan sanders.

Greg Hughes

Trey stephens (came off bench) wasn’t fully back after transferring back in.

Rosahun McGee (played limited due to it being 1st game back. Didn’t start)

Gillis has 25 carries on the year according to max preps in 10 games played.
Sanders is back up QB. How many games has he started this year?
McGee did start.
Stephens was in on the 3rd play of the game.

I don't think it mattered

crown point was better prepared
Crown point was better coached
Crown point was(is) a better team

Merrillville offensive line has improved dramatically from the beginning of the season. Limit mistakes, no turnovers, qb plays a solid game. Merrillville wins.
I was listening to the broadcast as I was watching other games.
The announcers made note of poor shotgun snaps being made by the Merrillville center.
Anyone watching the game, give further detail?

You have to be really young milking this injury thing all season. Crown Point destroyed them. It was a 33 point win. They are the better football team. It happens. Merrilville is a good football program but this years team is not as good as Crown Point. It’s that simple. Rewatch that game. It’s hilarious you think it’s a 3-7 point game because a few kids didn’t start. That you say anyways but after you stated this earlier this season. I rewatched the game a second time. Sure the game could have been closer. Unfortunately CP is just a better football team this season. When the pirates beat valpo in regional, you didn’t hear me bringing up injured valpo starters why they lost. They lost because the defense wore down and didn’t make stops at the end of the game. Because Verschure dropped an interception. Because they had Ty Veen guard a RB coming out of the backfield on a third and long because he’s slow. Because Valparaiso coaching staff had no new wrinkles to present to a team it beat by 2 points earlier in the season. I watched every valpo game this season. Exact same game plan every week. Run between the tackles. Wear down the opposing team because they have better talent and play defense. Using injuries for an excuse for a loss is just a lousy excuse. Accept the loss and move on.

On a side note. I am curious to see coach Bill Marshals coaching for next season. They lose a lot of talent. And they have had elite talent the last 5-6 years. I don’t think next years team has that kind of talent. If he gets the 2024 squad to 6-3 or 7-2. It might be his best coaching job since he’s been the head coach.
