Andrean @ Merrillville
The region is going to learn the name Michael Hill jr on this night. He is going to explode on the scene as the QB of the pirates. Andrean is loaded with D1 talent and will keep this a close game unlike last year. Especially since merrillville has to replace five starters on the offensive line.
Chesterton @ Hobart
The Trojans return Andrew Goveia at RB. Goveia was one of the leading rushers in the area last season who ran behind arguably the best offensive line in the region, anchored by all state center Carlos Leon. Aleks Tatum brings experience to the QB spot, as Chesterton looks to start sophomore QB Hunter Boyd. Hobart wins another tight one just like last year.
Crown Point @ Lowell
Crown Point lost a lot of talent, game will be close….for the first few minutes. Game will be over at halftime.
Hanover Central @ Michigan City
This is one of the most interesting matchups in week 1. Michigan City was the best 3-7 team in the state! Losing close matchups to Merrillville, valpo, portage, and Chesterton. They have IMO the best WR duo in the region in McKinnley and Hart. QB play is MOR at best for city, and Hanover needs to break in a new QB in Wyatt Tewell. I think city will win this game at home by a tuddy!
Lake Central @ Munster
Similar to 2024… maybe worse. LC wins big.
New Prairie @ LaPorte
I really think the loss of head coach Casey McKim is going to hurt new prairie. The slicers started a lot of sophomores last season, and return senior QB Aiden Penziol. I like the slicers in a tight one in this rivalry game.
Penn @ Valpo
Defense was optional last year in this game. Very high scoring. Coach Marshall runs a tight ship in valpo, but losing Burda and stokes on offense will be too much and Wisconsin commit Tayshon Bardo will be the X factor in this game for Penn. If WR Sam Venard and QB Kellen Hosek can make a few big plays, valpo can make it close.
Portage @ Morton
The Govs lose one of the best WR’s in the state and a QB who’s going to UIndy on offense and a 4 year starter and defense captain Freddy Brown on defense. Portage ran wild on Morton last year in a shocking blowout. Portage losses their head coach in Roy Richards and named Tony Klimczak head coach. Also hired former Arizona Prep head coach Steve Vaught to run the defense for the Indians. He’s fresh off a state runner up in Arizona. This should make for an interesting season. Kodie Young really came into his own at the end of last season looking like the best athlete at the QB position in the area. Running and throwing all over valpo and Laporte to end the season, but how man athletes did portage lose to the new transfer rule? Look for similar results as last year.
Do you still think that Michigan city wins now that they lost there WR? WR1 hart posted on his twitter that he has transferred to Carmel catholic (IL)Regioncoach85 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 10:19 pmDAC

Alright Adam Schefter. Running the Merrillville Offense better, what’s that mean? He hands the ball off better to the RBs?DACfanatic wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 10:47 pmRegioncoach85 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 10:19 pmDAC

If I told you Michael hill JR was gonna be the backup would you believe me… I have sources that have said Darnell Bowles is gonna be Merrillville starter as the coaches feel he runs the offense a lot better…. Time will tell…

Yeah kinda sucks for the sanders kid. He has talent, should have left for another school before the summer. But there is no debate that the transfer is better. I mean come on.DACfanatic wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 11:55 pmCodyFactChecker wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 4:28 pmAlright Adam Schefter. Running the Merrillville Offense better, what’s that mean? He runs the offense better uptempo. And has more of a leadership quality.
Supposedly Merrillville wants to be a by huddle team throughout parts of the season. And they have been working on snapping ball within a few seconds of it being set for play. Kinda like how Lafayette Jefferson does. At least that’s coming from players in the team. That’s where I got my info. And I still talk to sanders (last years QB) family because we are friends. And have been way before his kid became the QB last season
