WEEK 3 DAC POWER RANKINGS AND PREDICTIONS

Week 3 power rankings.

1. Crown point (2-0)
2. Merrillville (1-1)
3. Lake central (1-1)
4. Chesterton (1-1)
5. Michigan city (1-1)
6. Laporte (1-1)
7. Valpo (0-2)
8. Portage (0-2)

Predictions

Chesterton @ Michigan city:

Chesterton enters this matchup off a win 20-18 of Hammond Morton. They were able to control the ground game and limit Morton’s speedy backfield to take the win. Michigan city comes in on a heavy loss to Lafayette Jefferson. LJ was able to dictate the speed of the game and jump up early on the wolves. Wolves defense is solid but they have major issues on offense. 1st conference game this one is tough to decide I’m gonna go with the Trojans on the road to get the win with the more balance offense.

Trojans 17-14

Portage @ lake central:

Portage enters off another blowout loss where nothing looked right. Hobart dominated the game from start to finish. Lake central comes in off a blowout loss to a Michigan school. This matchup will come down to which Indians can control the line on both sides. I’m gonna go with the blue indians to win this game.

Lake central 28-10

Valpo @ Laporte:

Valpo enters this game off a blowout loss to Illinois power brother rice. All I can say is both sides of the ball need major work for the Vikings but they are still solid against the lower tier teams. Coach Marshall will get them right. Laporte enters this off a blowout loss to Lowell. Laporte has a solid RB and a good line but the delete is still non impressive. Laporte has showed some improvement this year but not an enough to compete in this matchup. Coach Marshall gets the Vikings the win!

Vikings 28-7

Game of week:

(potentially DAC championship game)

Merrillville @ crown point:

Merrillville comes into this matchup off a loss to 8A Illinois power Loyola academy 20-14. Pirates had many chances to take control of the game but kept letting the opportunity slip. They have an impressive RB duo and a breakout junior QB HILL. The defense for the pirates is extremely impressive early as well. Could this be the year the pirates stop the DAC winning streak? Crown point enters this game on a 21-0 win over pike. There offense is super physical. It helps when Trevor Gibbs moves all over field because early that’s All they have. Crown point holds a 3 year unbeaten streak in the regular season and duneland conference. Crown points defense is just as good as the past few years. The inexperience on offense may cost these bulldogs. You know what? I think it will! Pirates have looked like the more impressive team through two weeks and are battle tested after last week. Pirates win this game on the back of there impressive defense and very balanced offense.

Pirates 28-17

I also think that Merrillville gets CP this week and ends their DAC streak. That Pirate defense is legit.

I agree. Merrillville wins this game. Two very good teams but I think Merrillville is better team.

I’d love to see it. Only thing I see being an issue outside of Gibbs is potentially the Oline for CP. can the pirates break through

If Illinois ball is as big and bad as everyone from there makes it out to be then Friday should be a lot of fun between Ville and CP.

Also think the DAC is WAY muddier than anyone realizes just yet. After the top two I'm not sure if there's any clear tier breaks except for maybe Portage being below the pack.

Due to the track record of Coach Peterson always having Chesterton playing better as the year rolls on I'm curious to see where they end up.

Valpos staff is darn good so I expect them to do more with less than other staffs.

City has talent fall out of the sky so it simply comes down to coaching there.

Laporte seemed improved until you seen New Prairie just looks bad to start. They got dominated by Lowell.

Lake Central might be closer to Portage than the rest of the pack.

I agree with you paint. I think the DAC is not as clear as some years. Could be some really close games thru the year and some teams get some Ws that you wouldn't expect.

The DAC is crystal clear! Two really good teams and the rest are of average at best. Those teams will beat up on each other through the conference.

The rest being average make it not so crystal clear.
