Semi-State Week 2025

Post by Jimbo23 »

6A North: I'll take Westfield in a tight one, possibly an Overtime thriller. Westfield 35 Fort Wayne Carroll 28
6A South: Brownsburg ends the Magical Warren Central run. Part of me wants to take Warren but I'll roll with Brownsburg.
Brownsburg 27 Warren Central 20

5A North: Oh man... WILL THE PIRATES FINALLY DO IT?! Merrillville is roughly a 4-5 point favorite according to Sagarin but we have seen this before. I think the Pirates are the favorite but Concord is GOOD and has some serious playmakers on their roster. I think Mr. Cody's analysis of "a better Michigan City" is negligent. Michigan City is good but Concord is better, much better (no offense to Cody and the boys, Concord has been good for a long time now). I really like Merrillville to finally break through but if you put a gun to my head... Concord 31 Merrillville 24 PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG MERRILLVILLE!
5A South: New Palestine by a lot of points. New Pal 49 Bloomington South 14

4A North: Going to be another defensive slugfest like it was last week for South Bend St. Joe's and Hobart (amazing effort Hobart). I like Dwenger in this one. Fort Wayne Dwenger 17 South Bend St. Joe 7
4A South: Roncalli and Heritage Hills will be a battle between two heavyweights. Roncalli is the heavy favorite but Heritage Hills has some serious star power. The playmakers they have can be enough so long as they can handle themselves in the trenches. I like Heritage Hills with the "upset" in this one. Heritage Hills 28 Roncalli 24

3A North: Knox (per Sagarin) is the favorite but idk about that one... I think Myles McLaughlin will find it very difficult to approach the record in this Semi-State contest with Luers. In addition, if Luers has any form of playmakers that can stress the Knox defense (history says they will), Knox COULD be in trouble. This is the game where Knox gets to try to prove themselves to everyone that they belong. I like Luers in a tight one, but I hope I'm wrong and we get to see Myles break the record in the State title game. Luers 24 Knox 22
3A South: Gibson Southern and Cascade is an intriguing one. Gibson Southern (according to Gridiron Digest board) will be without their starting QB for this one. Cascade is in the middle of an incredible run and looking for a big time win to propel them to Indianapolis. Game is essentially a pick em according to Sagarin and even without their starter, I like Gibson Southern to advance to Indy. Gibson Southern 34 Cascade 30

2A North: A rematch of last year's Semi-State where Adams Central was victorious. Adams Central is a slight favorite per Sagarin but Andrean has to be motivated and hungry to avenge that loss. Andrean has playmakers all over the field on both sides of the ball. They're deep, talented, and solid up front. I like Andrean's chances of winning their 9th Semi-State title. Give me Andrean 27 Adams Central 24
2A South: I know nothing here but give me... Brownstown Central 28 Lapel 24

1A North: Pioneer 34 South Adams 24
1A South: South Putnam 42 Milan 21

Lapel features a QB who almost 11,000 yards passing on his career going back to his Freshman year. Back to back 3000 yard passing seasons, they will have a roster of 70 plus.

Brownstown Central runs a version of what we have done last decade or so, but their version is more SPIN SERIES of the GUN WING T, where they have 2 guys back there who can catch the QB snap and they go from there. Lots of fast hitting action and false pulse to deal with. From all accounts they have had some of the same path we had in 2013, good JR class, lose at Semi State and all come back as SRs on a mission to finally punch their ticket to INDY after all these years being very close.

Love it! Thanks for this, Coach! Excited for sure to see how that one plays out. The IHSAA will get my money again to watch all 12 games. Honestly a steal when you consider the amount of good football you get to watch on Semi-State night!

Cody agrees. But all these playmakers for concord are who?

All I keep seeing is 1 QB 1 RB 1 WR 1 K

Brunner, Gomez, bevard and a kicker.

Merrillville has (potentially) the best junior QB in state. One of the best RB duos in the northern half. A line that is supposedly bigger on both sides (I disagree) lol and a defense that has faced a tougher schedule for the season. I think it will be tight but from why I have seen watching there games. I still think this game is easier than it would of been with jeff

So they have a weapon at EACH of the 3 main Skill positions for their offense? Yeah, I think that qualifies them as playmakers. Merrillville DOES NOT have the best Junior QB in the State, that title belongs to Jack Sorgi of Tri-West (Louisville commit). I LOVE Merrillville's running back duo but them having a duo and some solid WR's to compliment their average to above average QB, does not negate Concord's skill players' abilities. I agree that Jeff was a "worse" matchup for the Pirates. But until they win the Semi-State title, tough to ride with them.

I stand by what I said. Harris is the best junior QB in the state he leads him in passing and rushing yards if I’m not mistaken. Also has a better completion percentage and less INTs. Against a harder schedule too.

The top 2 junior QBs are
Harris
Barrett (LJ)

Just my opinion.

But you guys act like Merrillville hasn’t played teams with a good guy at those 3 positions.

Crown point…
Loyola yes both losses
Supposedly Michigan city.

When concord hasn’t played a single team all year with a “top” tier QB. Or a great RB duo and th Merrillville WRs are far from average. When you got 5/6 WRs that all can break it at anytime idk. May just be me. I’m bias. But I got this game as a 2-3TD game. Been wrong in the past. We will see what happens on field. Concord didn’t get Jeff to punt once I don’t think. And Merrillville defense is better than Jeff’s so.. that’s what I’m leaning on is concord punting 4 times in game

That's not as unreasonable as his other declarations. Lol I hope they get it done and prove me wrong. I REALLY do! It's surprising it hasn't happened yet. Hopefully Friday is the night...
