Coach Koehler is not wrong in that assessment.

If Pirates are clean and do not shoot off those preverbal toes then Indy bound they are
As a pirate fan I refuse to make a prediction this year it all feels like it’s in a line for us… but I have seen the fact we have been favored in 4 of the last 5 semi states and we see what happens there 😂

Smart not to get too over excited as a fan. As I said in my analysis, I really like Merrillville to finally break through and I REALLY want to be proved wrong in my gut feeling. It is all aligned for Merrillville to finally do it but will they remains the question. We're close to finding out. Hope the Region gets two teams down to Indy both via Broadway!

Not a coach or anyone important down here in Rensselaer so I'm going to say what I want.
Since 92 I've seen Luers, Andrean, Central Catholic all pound down here at Rensselaer vs the best teams we had in decades vs just their reloading team.
And most the time......we got squished.

Lures only losses this season have come from 5a and 4a schools.

Knox on the other hand have played a bunch of 1a and 2a schools.

They are NOT ready for Luers. Private schools are on a whole other wave length right now. Notice 90% of the teams left are all Private.

Lures 45 Knox 20.

what was the score of the Luers Twin Lakes game last week? Mid 4th? Same Twin Lakes team that got beat by 3 tds vs Logansport..........

2010 Luers had 6 d1 kids on that team, including future ND LB and NFL LB, not sure I would quantify that team as just a run of mill Luers team.......

We also beat Central Catholic with NFL player CRONK and D1 B10 Player as well, not once, but twice in 2014, a year we won State.

Just saying

I understand the sentiment and yes, Public school cycles are very much a thing, Rensselaer not immune as well, but not every PP is built the same:

See Noll, Faith Christian, FW Blackhawk, Park Tudor, Ritter, just to name a few off the top of my head

same things were said about ole RF in 1990 when Luers was coming to town. Yet Luers got sent packing.

I would definitely say that Luers is the favorite, but I would never count out a RR team.

And I could be wrong. But so far knox has shown me 1 player. We shall see what the rest are like Friday.
I mean do I WANT privates to win? Hell no, but I've seen it way to many times.
I don't think just 1 player can do it above the 1A level

What sucks is they are on opposite days if they both make it!! Wish the IHSAA would group games by location like they do in basketball for semistate and regionals. Would love to have them play back to back on a Friday or Saturday

Yeah, that's awful. But also not awful. Region 2-day Broadway Indy take over would be cool. Sucks for Merrillville that they'll play New Pal if they do make it happen tonight. Lol

Just because some private schools don't take advantage of their advantage doesn't mean that the advantage doesn't exist.
