Apparently these gentlemen have forgotten the offensive genius of Tony Klimczak. He brought modern day offense to the region, coaches saw him have multiple 3k passing years at 2A Wheeler and took the hint.
THIS.
He did it at wheeler that really plays no one. He wouldn’t be able to do that in duneland and to this point in my opinion hasn’t. Portage improved but to me they just don’t have the talent to replicate it. I’d love to be wrong. Plus I don’t see Tony staying. He is a intern coach rumors where he was leaving (heard from
Another former portage coach) to take the OC job at Merrillville. But portage begged him to stay because turnover was already looking crazy at portage. I think he is one and done
Portage may not have the Jimmies and Joes, but TK has the X's and O's. Well, the O's anyway.

Time will tell. I got portage with 3 wins on the season if that much. Hope I’m wrong.

Actually Portage does have the talent. The receiver they lost played about a game and a half last year. They are still going 3/4 deep there right now, all seniors. The RB they still have is a FAR superior playmaker to the one they lost. He doesn't have the same size but his YPC was almost 2 yards better. He should have got more than he did last year, but he played a lot of D. The 2 OTs are both seniors and heavily recruited. Picked up a TE that has been a real game changer all summer long. Also Kodie, a 4 year starter, being the 6th best QB in the DAC is laughable.

Let’s figure out what’s fact and what’s fiction, since the lines are often times blurred in Cody’s posts.

Coach Klimczak and his family have earned their respect. Lots of great coaches in the family. None of which have ever been interns. Coach Klimczak is currently the interim head coach at portage a job he held before the OC job at merrillville opened up.

I’m sure you’re alter egos CrownPoint2024 or Trojanman7 will come to defend you, but we all know those are you typing under another username.
I'm sure Merrillville players and coaches wouldn't take too kindly to finding out their most public fan was using that language on a burner account just to try to make Crown Point look bad.

We enjoyed our battles with Wheeler over the years, we only got to play TK team 1 time when he was HC at Wheeler, 51-7 the Bombers, to be fair, we went 15-0 and won a state title that year.

His broth DK with TK had some real good ones as well. Got us in 07 12-0 in a monsoon, We got them in 09 to end their undefeated season in Sectional Finals, Wheeler avg 48 points that year and gave up only on average 4.1 points before week 11 where we won 21-18.

Same thing in 2010, undefeated and we won week 12 title game again, 28-0

Got us in 2011, 14-7 in round 2 of sectionals , that was the year they knocked off Andrean round 1.

Fun Battles over those years. Wish TK the best at Portage

The Merrillville job opened in march. At least that’s when we all knew wissing was gone. So that’s false. And trust me I don’t have the time for 2 other accounts. Do I know who CPbulldogs is yes. And he is a kid that graduated from there in 2023. His name is Ryan. And he hates everything to do with Craig. Trojan man is Mike buza I said that last year. He is the only one that I have ever seen defend Chesterton with his life. Go fact check that.

And the Merrillville coaches, parents, staff all know better that I wouldn’t use any bad language 💯 you guys keep trying to act like you know things but you don’t.

Just because they have offers doesn’t mean the team is talented.

That WR was the best WR the team had. Outside of him last year the WRs weren’t great.

The RB he caught people off guard because of the change of style he won’t this year.

The tackles yes they are solid. But I stand by what I said 6th best QB

In this order on QB

Valpo
Merrillville/crown point
Merrillville/crown point
Michigan city
Chesterton
Portage/lake central
Portage/lake central
Laporte

Portage will be worse off without Roy Richards no matter how many Portage posters come on here and defend the Red Indians. Tony K, again, is a good offensive mind and has done good things in NWI football, along with his family. That being said, it is legitimately laughable that it has been suggested Portage will be, or has been this summer, the best offense in the DAC. If Valpo, CP, and Merrillville each lost their head coach and a few players I STILL wouldn't bet against one (or ALL) of those 3 to have a better offense than Portage this season.

If you understood football half as well as you think you do, you'd understand it wasn't who it was against. It was what we did. We would scrimmage big schools all summer long, including your beloved Merrillville, and do the same thing we did to River Forest and Whiting. And then all of a sudden, lo and behold, almost every school in the region is running the Wheeler offense. Crazy how that works.

Coach Klimczak was a position coach for me at Valparaiso in 2002 when I was a freshmen. He is a very good coach. I hope he does well this season and Portage is smart enough to retain him. Great guy. Great coach. I’m interested to see if he can turn them around. Portage was a football power for along time. They have been so bad the last 15 years it’s crazy to think that time even existed back then.
