Crown Points defense looked good. Crown Points offense definitely has a long way to go. The youth is very apparent.

Lowell looked like a continuation of previous years. Cant see Lowell not facing running clocks anytime in the near future vs Crown Point.

Kinda watched all games on and off for DAC.

Crown point defense was great against a undermanned Lowell front. They had there way with it. Offensively they don’t look great. If it’s. It Gibbs it’s not doing a lot. Pike next week will be interesting.

Michigan city: offense struggles till 2nd half but the defense is as good as last years.

Portage all I’m gonna say is yall need Roy Richard’s back. Tony is not the answer at coach. Be lucky to win a game.

Chesterton offense was abysmal. Lots of runs and not many passes more than 2 yards.

Merrillville: I was surprised a lot. Defense was fantastic fast physical aggressive. Offensively spectacular we have a QB let’s see if he improves as year goes on. If he does the sky is the limit
I know Portage lost their RB to Michigan City. How many other actual starters left? If the answer is slim to none then I'm not sure Richards would have made that much of a difference. The team I saw play Morton on Friday night looked small, slow, and not very talented.

I watched the entire Zionsville / Pike game. Pike is basically just their QB who is very mobile and finds a way to extend plays. Zionsville looks to once again be a middle to bottom dwellar in the Hoosier Crossroads, which isn't a knock on them considering the level of comp they play. Crown Point is realistically a joke to be considered a legit Top 10 team this year if they can't win comfortably on West 71st Street.

Who started at QB for Merrillville? I recall some speculation that the very talented Junior wasn't going to start.

I watched the first half of the City game and most of the Lafayette Jeff/Bishop Chatard game. Lafayette Jeff has a beast at WR who is really going to test the City defense. They run some intersting sets that will have him line up way off the line of scrimmage and catch the ball in a full sprint on quick hitches. Remimds me of Areana League. I liked the spread City used on offense to get their playmakers the ball in a position for YAC. Thought their QB play was shaky in the 1st half. Didn't seem to be very accurate.

1. I can’t remember everyone who left portage. But if I’m not mistaken and please someone factcheck me. They lost a RB to city. A WR to Morton. Another WR to calumet along with a lineman or two.. and someone said Merrillville got a kid but I don’t recall what it was. If I had to take a guess all together about 6-8 players left.

2. We can agree crown point offense is young. They have good coaches I’m sure the improvement will be seen.

3. Hill started. As they moved senior QB DJ to WR. We all know I’m the Merrillville super fan. I’m not sold on hill yet as he went 19/23 for the game but 15 of those completions were behind line of scrimmage. And everything else was less than 10 yard passes. His mobility is fantastic but need to see some routes down the field I hear that’s the knock on him

4.i don’t think city’s offense can hang. I got Jeff wearing the defense down and blowing the game wide open

Michigan City will get destroyed by Jeff! 4+ td’s!

HC moved the ball up down the field all night but made stupid mistakes that led to td’s. I think MC scored 21 of their 31 on either special team or turnovers by HC offense. QB for MC is a very inaccurate thrower.

I 100% agree about the QB but I also think there WRs are not helping him either. How many dropped passes were there

I was at the Merrillville vs Andrean game. I was very impressed with Hill. Excellent athlete and very composed. DAC is correct in that most of his throws were swing passes mainly to Jordan. I was really impressed that Hill kept his eyes downfield when under pressure. He extends plays with his athleticism but is always looking to throw not run. Cam Jordan is an absolute stud!! Super fast and packs a punch for only being 179-180#.

Merrillville offensive line needs to improve. They weren’t moving many bodies consistently in the run game. In fact, nice job by Merrillville OC to stop running inside and started throwing swing passes to Jordan in space.

I wasn’t overly impressed with Merrillville wr’s but then again Jordan was stealing the show.

It will be interesting to see how both the offensive line and defense hold up vs Loyola, a team that is on an entirely different level than Andrean. It should be fun to watch.

I have seen a lot of Merrillville this summer I agree about the o-line but it did enough. Jordan is great. Hill is outstanding. I look forward to seeing the pirates compete with Loyola. But I will say there is a lot of things Merrillville didn’t show week 1. Like the wishbone they have been running all summer. 😑 kinda wanted to see the reaction when they came out in it. Also the jet sweeps and wr reverse they were working on wasn’t shown either.

Boiler, hope you're well my friend. Mr. Cody is correct (or very close to correct) on who Portage lost this offseason. Portage has lost some guys as a result of their poor decision(s)/ leadership. As far as the rest, CP will be lucky to win the Sectional, let alone Regional this year. City and Jeff will probably be fun to watch again this year.

Thanks Brother. You too. That’s a lot to lose. I just don’t get that place. Feels like they have way better talent than we did in the ‘90’s. We weren’t very big. Just fast and tough. Spurrier was the only D1 recruit we produced and he never played FB. Went to Purdue on T&F scholarship and was a beast at Hammer. Buzea was from Griffith and most Assistants played for Howell at Hobart. Excellence was demanded. It’s a shame Richard’s didn’t get a chance to bring Portage back.
