Game of the Week: Lowell vs Hobart

Lowell is a good football team. Kudos to their new HC. Not the typical Lowell offense with the new coach. Lowell is my surprise team in the area this season from a positive point of view.

Hobart needs to bounce back. Run defense is solid for them, pass defense is suspect. Offensively, they need to be able to run the ball to win. They didn’t vs Andrean. QB has to play better also.

This is a tough one to pick but I’m going to go with Lowell by 7

Definitely ready for a Lowell and Hobart battle. Could go either way.

Will go with Hobart at home in a tight one.

Lowell is a really good football team. Best of luck to anyone trying to move the ball on them when Hazlett (99) is in at Nose. I agree with you NWI on everything except I would add the adverb "really" before good to describe the Red Devils of Lowell. I will take Lowell by 7-10 points this week.

What has caused Lowell to be so much better this year than last year? New coach that good? Some new players out? Combination of both?

Coaching I would say has made a difference. I also think the schedule has been fairly weak. Hanover is down, Laporte is Laporte, Griffith is an average 3A program.

Yes, it’s coaching and schedule but offensively they are more diverse. They can actually throw.

If Hobart can’t run the ball, they will lose. Full stop.

I think what makes them diverse is how they throw the ball. It's very old school Lowell with a new school twist. They play with a 2 TE, 2 Back, 1 WR (21 Personnel) look a good amount of the time. They play action off of their run game well and they're faster than one would think as well. Schedule doesn't hurt and coaching helps too. Lowell has never been short of good coaches and they found another good one in McKim.
