KV has had two very good coaches in the last 15 years (Kennedy & Stewart) and neither had much success. Lots of growth in the KV school corporation. This has to get better right?

The 2012 KV Kougars were a fun team, that’s the only memorable KV season I remember in the past 20 years.

KV enrollment last 20 years

2006 1009
2016 1094
2026 961

DeMotte
2010 cencus 3814
2020 4168

Wheatfield
2010 853
2020 904

Not really much growth. Stagnant hs enrollment wise. KV is a girls sports school.

The only boys sports that have won sectionals in about the last fifteen years are track and cross crounty, and those are usually against the NJSPs and North Newtons of the world.

Hopefully this new guy can bring some of what he learned at LCC to the Kougars
These two posts are really good summations of KV, in my opinion. I like that the new fella has had some increased success year by year at North Newton, and I hope for NWI's sake he'll do the same at KV. But it IS a TALL task.

I think this post right here shows how difficult it is to win, especially at programs that hasn't had sustained success. There are a ton of factors that go in to building a top program - quality head coaches are only a part of it. Other factors include great players, good parents, community support, administrative support and financial support. When you have all those, that's when you're able to build something special.

If you missing a few of those, it's an uphill battle. I have no idea what KK dealt with at KV but my guess is he was missing one or more of those.

Very few schools are able to put it all together nowadays. It's very much the haves and havenots.

Bullseye! The bolded and italicized sentence is precisely why this job (and a lot of others to your point, Coach) are not very attractive to many potential coaching candidates.

KK ran SHOTGUN ...... I think you have your answers there

2012 KV: was that Tyler Birky at Running Back? He tuned us up for like 365 in week 1.

Birky was a stud. That KV team was a fun one, they got blasted against Hobart in round one of the sectionals 38-0. The stadium was packed and it looked like KV football was on the rise despite the outcome.

Looking at 2026 where would KV be expected to fall?

I’d think- Andrean & Hobart are interchangeable. Hanover and Lowell are as well for 3/4. Then it’s KV, Munster and Highland in that third tier.
