sectional thoughts
WOW how about those Slicers? Who would thought we would have MC and Laporte playing for the championship??
Valpo got it handed to them by MC. Shocked me. I really thought Valpo would win, but I would have thought either way it would be relatively close.
Watched some of the Knox and Gtown game. The Knox kid is really really good. But man I could not hardly believe how much Radtke ran him. They seemed to have some other pretty good size kids in the backfield. I mean I guess if it isnt broke or they cannot stop it then just keep doing it. But goodness I would think they could be better by getting some others involved in the offense.
Andrean took care of business as expected. Wheeler gave it a good shot. Good luck Coach N and the bombers, you got your hands full!
Surprised to see North Judson lose.
Ready for the Lowell and Hobart battle! Old school region war! Lets get it on!

Merrillville won.. defense did its job. Offense probably played there worst game of season. Credit to Morton on some of that. But way too many dropped passes by pirate WRs. Some not so smart throws into coverage that results in a few ints. A blocked FG… can’t have this stuff inan few weeks. Hope this got to all put of there system off a few week layoff. On to Munster
Re: sectional thoughts
Starting in 6A... CHALK and no surprises...
5A... LOTS to discuss. Beginning with the Slicers and Trojans, I wish I could say I am surprised by the Trojans falling short in the postseason but water is wet and the sky is blue (most of the time). Kudos to LaPorte for winning a tough postseason game on the road. Could LaPorte pull the magic upset and take down the Wolves?! Doubtful but we shall see... Valpo getting handled by City shocked me and does not give me much hope for the Slicers but that's why we play the games. Munster dismantled the Wolves of Hammond Central. The Governors of Morton gave Merrillville all they could ask for in a round 1 playoff game. The Morton defense made the QB uncomfortable ALL night and forced him into some poor mistakes. Credit to the Morton defense for making it tough on the Pirates and giving their team a chance in a game where no one thought they had even a tiny chance.
4A... See 6A... But excited for Hobart and Lowell!
3A... I watched nearly all of this game and the Knox kid is the real deal. If you cannot see that then your eyeballs simply don't work, period. Their O-line is REALLY GOOD, and contradictory to DACFanatic's analysis in another thread, he ran through many holes untouched for quite a few yards. Is he good at yards after contact? YOU BET! But he's also pretty damn good when no one touches him either. He lacks the top end speed to be a true Power 4 kid but the fact that he isn't getting an offer from the entirety of the MAC is absolutely absurd.
2A... Wheeler gave them a helluva run, arguably better than they did a year ago with a "better" team. Andrean was just too much and probably will be for many people this playoffs. Best of luck Coach Nowlin and the boys vs the Niners!!! Tall task but doable!
1A... See 4A and 6A... Except for North Judson going down which was a surprise.

Jimbo and Paint, you guys probably have seen more than I have. Does Knox basically only give this kid the ball the entire game all the time? It just shocked me. Radtke at other places has always had multiple backs that you had to be prepared for. Just seemed odd to me for a Radtke team. But no doubt that kid is the real deal. Does he have any college commitments yet?

Wheeler did give them a helluva run, especially considering that the Bearcats lost their starting RB to concussion before the Lake Station game, and then lost their starting QB before the Andrean game. Freshmen QB and RB started for Wheeler and played well considering.
Good Luck to the Fightin' Nowlins on Friday. I don't know what they have, but I know they are very well coached and they are very tough to beat at home.
October 21, 2011: Wheeler 12, Andrean 7

He does everything. And his only offer from what people say is valpo university. A lot of D1 schools have come looked and passed according to what there community puts on facebookBallinFreak wrote: ↑Mon Nov 03, 2025 8:10 pmJimbo and Paint, you guys probably have seen more than I have. Russ has allowed his sons Tyler and Bo too coordinate the offense and they have moved away from the triple in favor of wildcat heavy approach with alot of pulling. It’s a numbers game and having the QB run gives you that extra hat blocking.BallinFreak wrote: ↑Mon Nov 03, 2025 8:10 pmJimbo and Paint, you guys probably have seen more than I have. I’m sure he’ll find a good home after the season the way Charlie Spegal(sp?) did from New Palestine did when had no D1 offers and wound up at Ball State. What he lacks in to end speed he makes up for with his vision, patience, and contact balance

Interesting. The wildcat heavy approach is definitely a great way to highlight the kid and get him plenty of yards. But I am not sure it is a good plan for winning games as the season progresses. But Radtke is the man and one of the best to ever do it. So I will yield to his way. Will be interesting to see how it goes.paintballer wrote: ↑Tue Nov 04, 2025 2:47 amRuss has allowed his sons Tyler and Bo too coordinate the offense and they have moved away from the triple in favor of wildcat heavy approach with alot of pulling. Glad to see you are alive and well BN. Sad you would not engage in some old school fun leading up to the Andrean and Wheeler game.Bearcat Nation wrote: ↑Mon Nov 03, 2025 10:19 pmWheeler did give them a helluva run, especially considering that the Bearcats lost their starting RB to concussion before the Lake Station game, and then lost their starting QB before the Andrean game.
