So they have a weapon at EACH of the 3 main Skill positions for their offense? Yeah, I think that qualifies them as playmakers. Merrillville DOES NOT have the best Junior QB in the State, that title belongs to Jack Sorgi of Tri-West (Louisville commit). I LOVE Merrillville's running back duo but them having a duo and some solid WR's to compliment their average to above average QB, does not negate Concord's skill players' abilities. I agree that Jeff was a "worse" matchup for the Pirates. But until they win the Semi-State title, tough to ride with them.
Calling Hill "average to above average" is far more stupid than most things Cody has said on here. The kid has thrown for 3k, ran for 600, and has 34 total touchdowns. Plus, you're as rude as possible in your response to him, and then completely agree in your next response to coach Nowlin saying relatively the same thing. Do better.

You wanna talk contradictory statements? EVERY poster on here comes along TRASHES Morton but yet when this alleged "best Junior Quarterback in the state" goes out and completes 52% of his passes for 170 with an INT against them, NOW he played great competition?! The young man is good but he has played worse in the postseason than he did in the regular season. Meanwhile, the kid at Tri-West with a Power 4 commitment "isn't as good as Hill" in Cody's eyes but yeah, I'm the stupid one... Lol

Michael Hill is a REALLY good High School Quarterback. He is not the best Junior Quarterback in the state of Indiana. Both of those can be (and are) true.

BREAKING NEWS: "Team runs the ball more in colder weather!!" He hasn't played worse, the fact is that nobody wants to square up JQ Johnson and they can't wrap up Cam Jordan. If you're running for over 200 a game with ease, why throw it 50 times? You also want to wear the clock in games you're winning comfortably, WHICH YOU DO RUNNING THE BALL. And it's hilarious you bring up contradiction in a response where you directly contradict a statement you made less than 30 minutes ago calling him "Average to above average" and now he's "REALLY good". Regardless of offers, Hill is playing on par quarterback with Sorgi. But its great to know that the region person is defending the son of a former NFL player over a kid from his area doing great things and making his community proud. I say again, DO BETTER!!!

I will not take my "be better" advice from the guy that declared Tony Klimczak the king of the Spread in the Region and that Portage's offense looked good this summer, or endorsed it (finished the year averaging 11 points a game). Hill is a REALLY GOOD HIGH SCHOOL QB (read it again if you couldn't figure it out the first time) but that doesn't make him a REALLY GOOD QB in the grand scheme of QB'ing. He had a nice year and is a good HS football player but he is SO FAR from that "former NFL player's kid" it isn't even funny. It doesn't matter where I was born or where I own my house, the Sorgi kid is a better Quarterback than the Hill kid. Plain and simple. If you don't think so you either have not watched the film or you're lying to yourself.

I’ve been wrong before, and will most likely be wrong at some point again. I’m man enough to admit it, but Tony klimczak would coach circles around you. And you called hill average. Don’t lie about it, that’s an awful look. You switched it to “really good hs qb” after I called you out. And seeing how much you (rightly) defend Myles McLaughlin, I expected more. That’s all.

Same. Maybe I am wrong about my assessment of Hill as an average QB who is a really good HIGH SCHOOL Quarterback (which is and has been my TOTAL assessment of him for weeks, you calling me out is irrelevant). Maybe Hill will prove me wrong and be far better than that and go on to have a successful Quarterbacking career after Merrillville, but I don't see it. This position and the evaluation of it is WAYYYYYYY different than RB.

As far as Tony Klimczak coaching circles around me... For starters, and as I said in the thread where you made these proclamations, I think Tony Klimczak is a good football coach and even better man. But nah, I won't let someone who doesn't know me tell me who can coach circles around me and who can't. I know who those people are in this Region, State, and World and I won't disrespect Tony or anyone else by responding to that silly a** claim.

Straight from an Elkhart newspaper.

Koehler woke up this past Saturday morning and immediately got to work on looking ahead to Merrillville. That’s the job, and that’s what Koehler wants, because the alternative means waking up without another game on the schedule until August.

Koehler didn’t beat around the bush when talking about Merrillville junior quarterback Michael Hill Jr. He will be the best individual player the Minutemen have faced in the last 3 seasons. Hill Jr. has already broken the record for most single-season completions in program history with 227, and he’s nearing the Pirates’ all-time single-season passing yards mark. Hill Jr has amassed 3,090 passing yards, 636 rushing yards and 34 total touchdowns. His 3,726 total yards are tied for the third-most in the state, trailing Mr. Football frontrunner Myles McLaughlin and Greencastle quarterback Cole Stephens. Hill Jr. has helped three different Pirates receivers reach more than 700 yards this season, and that’s not to mention senior Jacquarious Johnson’s additional 1,465 yards and 15 touchdowns as Merrillville’s lead running back.
“We’re going to have to be opportunistic, we’re going to have to have some timely stops and hopefully force some turnovers,” Koehler said. “That’s just the reality of the game. We’re not going to be able to stop them at all. They’re going to score a lot of points. He’s too talented, and they’re too talented.” “This Merrillville pirate team has more weapons than we do and will be tough to stop”

Coach Koehler is not wrong in that assessment.

If Pirates are clean and do not shoot off those preverbal toes then Indy bound they are
