Re: Sectional Draw
Sir, with all due respect, that language is referring SOLELY on away games for championship game for Weeks 10 and 11. Not week 1 through 9
I am an officer in IFCA, Region 4 assistant coach rep since 2010, I may just have a bit insight on this one, just a touch

Re: Sectional Draw
also, as mentioned before, STATE flips every year how they break ties for Regional/Semi State
What is NEW this year is blanket statement below
REGIONAL
Determining Home Team
New in 2025: all classes will use the rule below.
Sectional final game non-host, if applicable, or odd sectional number.
SemiState
Determining Home Team
New in 2025: all classes will use the rule below.
*Regional non-host, if applicable, or lower sectional # (i.e., Sect. 1 is lower than Sect. 2).
*If regional winner has not hosted either sectional final or regional, that school will be the designated host.
What the state got rid of was these same tie breakers but would be determined by classes: So one year 1a, 3a, 5a would be EVEN/ODD sectional number tiebreaker, then 2a, 4a, 6a, would be EVEN/ODD then the following year it would flip, etc.
thats why it says NEW THIS YEAR: ALL CLASSES....
because its not broken up like I explained above.

What he said.
Like I said, Cody. You added that part about regular season yourself.

Seems like Speed of Griffith vs some strength of Wheeler, though Griffith OL this summer was pretty big as well.

Re: Sectional Draw
Okay so you’re saying what the coaches are telling the kids is wrong? Because the coaching staff and Merrillville has said weeks 1-9 do matter. As did region sports on there post game show Friday night? Even the Indy star said they do. So who is right and who is wrong? I’m just stating what everyone else is. Even John Harrell parings for potential matchups for next week. Follow the away games 1-9 as also accountedCoach Nowlin 2.0 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 14, 2025 2:16 pmSir, with all due respect, that language is referring SOLELY on away games for championship game for Weeks 10 and 11. Yes
Sunday Funday Reading Material if you would like: If this new "rule" was established, it would of been discussed by IFCA this past spring board meeting, which it was not, source, Me.
But lets just say IHSAA left the iFCA completely in the dark and just did it on their own, they would feature this new rule in the section call RULE CHANGES of By Laws that is readily available to public consumption.
https://www.ihsaa.org/sites/default/fil ... y-Laws.pdf
A more straight forward explanation from our media friend in Illinois: https://statelinesportsnetwork.net/2025 ... l%20round.
I am assuming some context of what you heard is missing and or just a miscommunication, but any Home/Away conversations on how it is done is solely on Weeks 10-12 for 4a, 3a, 2a,1a and weeks 11 and 12 for 6a/5a.
